16:58, only to have Hilton’s Amanda Griggs come back 90 minutes later to
break Van Buskirk’s short-lived record with a
16:53.
Noel Bateman (14:58) sets the standard early in the Boys
Medium school race, only to see Owen Kimple of
Fayetteville Manlius win the large school race in 14:52. Brian Rhodes-Devey (Guilderland) makes the race with a huge surge at
the halfway point but cannot hold on as Kimple and
Ben White (Liverpool) pass him by two miles.
Hilton girls put 5 in the top 12 to beat
Fayetteville-Manlius. Their 17:57 average is a new record, bettering Bay
Shore’s 18:01 average from 2004. The F-M boys repeat as champs over
Liverpool and average 15:23.
